ABOUT
LAVINA
The aesthetic of psychological tension is perhaps the most central to the imagery I continually strive to produce. The aim is often a sense of something unsaid, something lurking beneath the surface — whether it’s a sense of impending danger, a deep feeling of loneliness, or the quiet anxiety of a character in a moment of personal crisis. This tension is conveyed through the composition, lighting, and setting, creating a sense that the world of the photograph is on the verge of something, but that “something” is always elusive. Often, the story in the photograph includes what is not in the frame.
The tension I try to capture mirrors the existential questions that preoccupy human life: the search for meaning, the fear of the unknown, the weight of isolation, and the constant negotiation between desire and reality. The aesthetic tension in the imagery is an invitation to engage with these complex psychological and emotional states, and to reflect on the often uncomfortable forces that shape people’s thoughts, actions, and relationships.
The intention in my images is to serve as both a mirror and a magnifying glass for the complexities of human existence.
